Ice and Spice Cafe feels like a comfortable, well-loved spot tucked in the heart of Clitheroe’s King Street, where locals gather for everything from breakfast to an unhurried afternoon tea. This cafe serves up a wide range of dishes that cover classic British comfort food alongside a few international touches, making it a versatile choice whether you’re after a full English breakfast or something a bit more adventurous like Singapore Chow Mein or sweet and sour chicken.

The atmosphere is homely and unpretentious, with straightforward plastic-topped tables and a clientele that skews towards the town’s more mature residents, though it welcomes families and walkers alike. It’s the kind of place where the pace slows down—ordering might bring a short wait, but the satisfaction of hearty, hot plates makes that easy to overlook. The steady buzz after lunchtime suggests it’s a favored stop for locals needing a solid meal at reasonable prices.

The menu strikes a balance between classic cafe staples and generous portions, from the generous Lemon Meringue Pie slices to the variety of soups and daily roast options. Comfort food like homemade cheese and onion pie or broccoli and stilton soup sits alongside sweet treats like banana splits and knickerbocker glories. Hot drinks get a confident nod too, especially the cinnamon latte that fits well with the cozy setting.

Service reflects the familiar tone of a close-knit community spot—friendly and personal, making visitors feel known rather than just another order. This adds to Ice and Spice’s appeal as a dependable stop for a casual yet satisfying meal in Clitheroe, especially during quiet mid-morning breaks or after countryside walks.

For anyone looking to enjoy a relaxed meal rooted in local produce and uncomplicated flavors, Ice and Spice Cafe offers a welcoming space that balances practical day-to-day needs with a touch of homely charm. It’s particularly suited to those who appreciate good value, a varied menu, and a spot where you can comfortably linger over both meals and a pot of tea.

Went on Tuesday to this lovely cafe with my family. It was their 2nd visit & my 1st visit. There was a wait for our food to come but it was well worth the wait. The food was cooked, hot & very tasty. I had sweet & sour chicken with rice, my Dad had curry with half rice & chips, my Mum had the braised steak with veg & mash, my Auntie had an all day breakfast. We all had clean plates. Cheap meals both English & Chinese food. We also had puddings 1 banana split, & 3 lemon meringue pies. So yummy. The staff are lovely & asked if we were happy with our meals. Friendly staff we will definitely be visiting again soon. :)

Delicious! I had the all day breakfast. Lovely locally sourced produce far superior to other breakfasts in the area. My partner had king prawn curry which was amazing! Just had to dip a chip or 2 in . Service was spot on. Lovely lady, lovely smile. All in all a very good experience we will definitely visit again. 5*****

A homely café, bistro, Teashop in a very English style. Good food, good menu, fresh/local ingredients. Plastic topped tables, packed full of locals and mostly a “mature” clientele. The food is good, plentiful & cheap. One of my favourite places to eat. Recommended dishes: Full English Breakfast, also the home made “plate meat pies”. This is in “pie eater” country!

Called in after a walk around the town for a cuppa. The largest teapot of great tea and the largest dice of the largest Lemon Meringue Pie, it was so light and tasty. Definitely recommend. Next we will call in for lunch. The menu is great lots of choice. Cafe very busy just after lunch time. Excellent friendly service. **Called in again for lunch the week after. Definitely recommend the Spicy Singapore Chow Mein, What a lovely sauce. I couldn't eat it all so they wrapped to take home. Cheese Omelette was full of cheese. Didn't realise this lovely cafe does Takeaway! Lots of people coming in for takeaway.

Can go here for any type of food and it’s always so delicious. The most reasonably priced cafe in clitheroe with the greatest variety of options. The staff are so personal and kind too. A rare gem.

Great cafe. Well priced and good food. If you don't have the hazelnut ice cream you are really missing a treat.
